Game of Life

Been no soul that floats
Had no encounter with envy,
Anger, sorrow or despair
Been no heart that flies
Sky high light as feather
Trouble breeds like rats
Geometric progression, endless, infinite
Darkness, hopelessness, despite,
The mighty strives, the weak succumbs,
Either is a fighter,
Neither, however a winner.

He walks on his own laid path
In sun and rain alike
Smile on his lips
Heart on his sleeve
No crease on his forehead
Never a tear in his eyes
No darkness has ever crossed his stride
His soul alone shone pure light
Until the end he remained the same
When death came he was thought to be
The undefeated in life’s game
The end to the story
Is as always not the same
For life can never go on,
He died in silence, just like he lived,
Winner or loser? Sit on that thought.

What do you see in your mirror?

Mirror Mirror on the wall,
Who’s the fairest of them all?
The mirror said : You my lady!

Hmm… Why did the mirror say that? How could it assess people like that?  A mirror simply reflects anyone who stands in front of it. But this is a magic mirror. It compares everyone in the world and finds out who’s the best one. The one who stands out. I’m just applying logic. It’s simply not possible. Something’s wrong. And besides, this stupid fairytale must be where it all started.  You don’t get what I’m saying do you? Read on, you will eventually get there.
No two people are alike, ever if you consider mirror twins ( One’s left handed and the other right handed). Quite certainly there are over countless features related to human nature. And every person may have let’s say around 10% of the total features. That 10% definitely involves 5% good and 5%bad ( Everything in the universe is balanced ). Each 10% is composed of a permutation and combination of the features. So no two people have the same 10%. Are you with me so far?
Now we have established that there are no alike people in the world. Similar maybe.. But not the same. Now.. This means that each person is unique. And when a person is unique, there’s noone to be compared with. And thus, we cannot say who is better. But the mirror chooses… Why?
From the stone age till this date, man has always copied. He has evolved scientifically by copying nature. Whatever was natural, he made it artificially and he was a better man who was able to live a comfortable life. This is the aim of the human race : Comfortable life. Science can be developed by copying nature. But can the same be applied to way of life?
Each individual, is unique. A nature of his own to flaunt, to perfect, to express, and thus to live by. But over the ages, the humans are more interested in the neighbour, who wears nice clothes, who has an Australian accent, who walks like a super model, and talks like a TV anchor. Everybody wants to be like another person, and as the chain grows, Everybody turn into another person. Clones come into existence.  There’s an army of people who are alike. And now it is easy to pick who’s the fairest of them all… The one who ‘acts’ normal the best, is the fairest. The individual self is lost behind the smoke screens and walls one builds around the inner self.
Someone once said, “The flutter of the wings of a butterfly in a part of the world can bring a hurricane on the other part.” Clones are generated this way. With a single role model for every person, and each person being connected to another in the world. there’s just a tornado that keeps going round and round and never stops until everything in its reach is destroyed. Nothing can survive a tornado…
There is no necessity to ‘ape’, for that’s a trait of the apes. We are human. We are more advanced. We are clever enough to understand that its the difference between two people is what makes them both beautiful. They may be opposites, they may complete each other. But that balance is required for a harmonious life. No. This is not about soulmates. This is to the entire world population.  If one lives life, in his true self, he will bring a radical change in his environment. Colours of a rainbow compliment each other and make a beautiful sight. That’s how everything in nature works. Everything is unique and one ought to let it be unique and not tamper with it.
Mirror reflects your mind. Do not compare yourself to someone out there. They are nothing like you. Remember YOU ARE UNIQUE.
Close your eyes. See yourself for who you are. Tell yourself you are beautiful just the way you are. And you will find that you truly are one of a kind. That feeling will keep the smile on your face beaming longer and brighter until your last breath. You are you for a reason. Break through the shackles that forve you to be someone else. Kill that thought in your mind. And just be yourself.
Stand before your mirror now and say:
Mirror Mirror on the wall
Who’s the fairest of them all?
The mirror stays silent,
You can see yourself.

A Voice

So I am, that being,
May be liked, may be loved,
Mostly despised,
My actions, my words,
My responsibilities, True.
Impact on you, Effect please may I?
Not my Bad, No thank you.
Who I like, You or he,
Among quite a few,
May be just one or two,
My choice, My will,
Not yours to take,
Not yours to make.
The world in my eyes,
Different from what you see,
I neither accept nor deny,
How you breathe.
I allow myself,
Within reason to doubt,
Hear you out, Contemplate,
Change my view.
Happens rarely,
So don’t you flaunt,
Arrogance spouting,
You will only fall down.
I may be too vain,
Haughty if you may,
So I am, that being,
Like or Love me if you might,
Despise me? I do not care.

Puppy Love

I met a guy. It was love at first sight. He was really handsome. I looked into his eyes and I knew that he was the one I had been waiting for all my life. He was so full of life that he just made me smile everytime we were together. He was the perfect guy from my fairytale. He never held grudges. He never had an ego. And everytime we had a disagreement, irrespective of whether the fault was his or mine he'd come bouncing back to make up for it as if everything was alright. His love was unconditional. He was nice to my girl friends, but wasn't that nice to my guy friends. In fact he'd scare them away. He was selfless, sweet, warm and just seemed so perfect. There was one problem though. When someone is so trusting they tend to be naive and ignorant. Well that was his problem.

Meanwhile I met another guy. He was different. Yes, he was really handsome too. He was loving, sweet and trusting too. He made smile too. He was so smart. That I found attractive while compared to Guy No.1. However, this guy had an ego the size of a ball park. He'd get so angry if we had a disagreement that he'd never talk unless I took the first step. He didn't have a problem with any of my friends. In fact he didn't have a problem with Guy No.1 either. What drove him mad was when he tried to talk to me, Guy No.1 with his full burst of energy would charm me away. By the time I turned my attention back, he'd have turned away, and he wouldn't come back.

Well, there are both stereotypes. One perfectly sweet and sensitive but dumb. The other smart yet egotistic. Can't have both in the same guy can we? For the world would be too perfect then. But I thought, why can't I have both these guys? Oh! Did I leave the part out where they are brothers? Makes things even more complicated doesn't it?

But I realised I love them both. To make matters worse, my best friend loves them too. And she gets to have them both! Its the 21st century. If she gets to be with them all the time, I can go visit them when I want to and get to have fun with them atleast for a while. And that is what I do now.

No no it's not complicated at all. Meet Guy no.1, Pepper and his brother Poirot. They are perfect just the way they are. And I absolutely love they as if they were my own!

Pay it Forward

There was a lecture held recently at a small convention on social service in Bangalore city. The speaker said, "Seva is just not about helping the needy. It is about the ones who receive help, help others like themselves in turn. And thus, Seva should be continuous". A simple thought, and yet it makes a great impact. Catherine Ryan Hyde's book, Pay it Forward, tells a story that follows the same principle. There are three stages in our life - Infant, Youth, Elder. At Infant and Elder stages (when one is a child, and when one is old), we always receive from the society. Youth is the stage or the time, when we are able to give to the society. Fame and affluence are materials that come at the cost of hard work as well as the wealth of the other lower classes of the society. It is not the wealth that one has to give away, for that would be unfair. One thing we all have in common is the twenty four hours of time. Some part of that time could be used to engage in Seva. One may be cynical about the concept of social service. But using the concept of pay it forward, it can do wonders in transforming a society. Consider a sample society like Bangalore. At almost every traffic signal, one find beggars - elders, women and children alike. At every garbage dumping site, we can find a few rag pickers. There are people who sleep on the pavements. If one takes some time off their schedule, and helps just one person out of the lot, by finding a home for destitute, or an orphanage perhaps, it would make a great deal of an impact on the entire society. The spread of word by the same class of people takes these people off the streets and helps them live in a more civilized environment where they are educated, learn to work, and find a purpose to life. A chain of people helping each other, growing in geometric progression is what might be that miracle we have all been waiting for, to raise the standard of living, of not just our city, nor our state, neither our country, but the world as a whole. Indian culture believes in every human being family.
अयं निज: परो वेति गणना लघुचेतसाम्। उदारमनसानां तु वसुधैव कुटुंबकम्॥
(The thinking that this is mine, or someone else's is that of a narrow minded Person, For a Broad Minded Person, the world is family.) You may feel inhibitions to help the ones on the streets, but those are not the only ways of Seva. One can volunteer in government schools to teach the children spoken English, or Computers. One can volunteer at Hospitals to help the underprivileged find their way around the formalities. There are homes for disabled children, where one can try to bring a smile on a child's face. Where there is a will, there is a way. We have been a developing country for so long. It is time for us to transform our nation first, and then the world itself. The fight for power has drowned the cries of hunger, thirst and desperation. We are stronger for we understand compassion. We understand the meaning of humanity, and we will not let carnal rage of power take over our instincts to protect our own people. When you follow Seva, whether you are giver or the receiver, remember to 'Pay it Forward'. If you do not know where to begin please visit www.youthforseva.org
वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम।

So yesterday!

Yeah I know that my post title is Hilary Duff's song title. That's where I got my inspiration. Yeah her song was on the lines of love, but it applies to every bit of life, I gathered.

Lot of things happen in life, and I don't know why people make a big deal of everything. You get low marks on a paper? You lost your boyfriend? You embarrassed yourself in public? You discovered that someone hates you? Big deal. These are trivial things. Nothing can equal the happiness you experience when you feel you are enjoying life. That's all life is for. Just to have fun as you pass everyday.

Brush it off, walk with your head held high. Never let anything spoil your moment of happiness for you, which should probably last a lifetime. Problems come in your life, it'll probably drain you of all your energy. But you know all that worrying is not really worth it.

My friend Kris once told me "What's the point in worrying if you can find a solution anyway, and why worry if  you are not gonna find the solution at all?" That kinda made sense you know? Its true that worrying is an unnecessary intermediate. Its kind of an inhibitor in your chemical reaction. Without an inhibitor, the reaction will proceed smoothly giving you maximum desired product. Coming to the undesired product, throw it in the bin. or recycle it. Don't keep it and crib about it and turn it into an inhibitor for the next reaction.

People hardly ever realize this fact, but sometimes when you have a fight and you worry about it, you fail to acknowledge that the other person would probably be playing foosball with some friends. What I'm trying to say is, maybe the other person doesn't give a (pardon me for using this word!) crap for what you feel. So why should you, waste all your precious time and energy on worrying while you have so many other things to do like Move on!!

Yea come on, open those windows in your stuffy little room. "Feel the rain on your skin, no one else can feel it for you, only you can let it in" (Natasha bedingfield - Unwritten). Mistakes happen, its a part of life. You can't run away from it. But you can always learn from it. You know once I made a big fool of myself in front of 200 odd people on stage. I was so embarrassed that day. Even now sometimes the nightmare haunts me. But then I realized that it was so way back in the past, probably no one will remember it. There are somethings that you just have to let go.

Everyday is a new chapter in your book and it can make all the difference while you are reading it. it may be sad first few pages but the rest of the book could leave you very happy and the ending will be happy anyways. Everybody has a happy ending. Believe in it. Its true. You'll find your place in the world someday. You just need to have some patience. And all the bad things that happen, just let go of it. Cleanse yourself off all the negativity. Forget all the bitter things.

So, Chill people, Throw all the garbage away where it belongs, and move on, that's how you get to enjoy and totally live your life. Try it and see, Life will turn out to be a never ending never boring PARTY!!! :)

If its over, let it go and,
Come tomorrow it will seem,
So yesterday, So yesterday,
Haven't you heard, I'm gonna be ok! :)

And we all fall down!

Lately I have been meeting the kind of people who say "I don't need anyone". The more I listen to them saying that, the more I feel someday they are gonna scream out loud for help. Everybody needs somebody! That's like a natural law. Why else would a human be called a social animal?? Why do social institutions exist? If you miss a bus, you'll need a cab. If you scrape your knee, you'll need a nurse. If you fall sick, you need someone to take care of you. Again, I say everybody needs somebody.

However, there are certain people whose ego is as big as their fat head. All they care about is themselves. Narcissists. Who can love themselves more than a couple can love each other. Now these are the people who are focused on their ambition so much that they trample on all the those who love them, as they run towards their dreams. I'm not saying dreams are bad or aiming for dreams is bad. I'm saying disregarding everyone you have just so that you can be happy when you get what you want is bad. That won't be true happiness for there won't be anyone for you to share it with. If one tops an exam they'd want to tell someone else "I did it!!" Unfortunately for the ego maniacs I'm talking about, nobody will be around to share joy with.

Its not just a question of joy. Suppose in your pursuit of dreams, you fail, you fall, you need someone to catch you. Otherwise you hit the ground and crack your skull. Wow, that would drain some of their brain which might prove useful! Not to be sadistic, but seriously if that happens then it would be awesome and awful at the same time. In times of misery, you'd want someone to sit next to you hold your hand and say "Its okay! I'm here. Its gonna be alright." Those magical words give you mental strength to face the problem you have and to solve it. Instead if someone says "Get over it! Everyone has problems. Just search for a solution and move ahead!", you'll feel two things - One. You'll drown deeper into misery. And two, you'd wanna punch the person for saying this. Honestly, when someone is in need of a person to hold them together, if you can't do it stay away. Yes one always has to do what is right. But the right thing is certainly not pushing a person off the cliff while they are hanging at the end of it. The right thing is to just be there for someone in need.

Time of need is time of need. Dude! Its now or never! If you can be nice, be there, if you can't then stay away. Just don't make it worse.

Anyway, coming back to the extraordinary people I was talking about, their total disregard of other people's feelings will sure win them their dream. But then when they receive their trophy and turn towards the crowd to give their speech of gratitude (which probably would be "I am the sole cause for my victory"), the crowd will not be there. There won't be applause. There won't be camera flashes. There won't be a background score.

That's when the song plays in your mind:

Ring a ring o' Roses,
A Pocket full of Posies,
A-tishoo, A-tishoo
And we all fall down!

No matter what, bad times or good times, there'll come a day when you need someone. We always need someone to help us up. As said before, we are social animals, And we all fall down!

Happy Place

Eyes closed. Delving deep into thoughts. Thoughts that I haven't considered for ages. All that I had kept locked up in me all these years.
I find myself in an open field of grass.
Its night.
The stars are twinkling above me. I see my favorite constellation above me. Orion.
I see the moon. Its full.
I hear the rush of water.
I realize I'm standing on the banks of a river. The water is rushing towards a waterfall.
I can feel the cool wind on my skin. I can hear nothing but the river. It feels nice.
Oh.. Its drizzling. I am not running to find shelter. Instead I'm enjoying the feel of raindrops.
I'm crying.
Nobody can see me. N even if they did, they won't know. Its raining.
I didn't know my purpose so far in life. I don't know where I'm going. I don't know which road to take. I'm confused. I don't know if I'm happy or not. If I'm happy, why am I crying? If I'm sad, why don't I feel pain? I sit close to the water. And just stay quiet.
I am thinking of the beautiful moments in life.
The night's fading. But its still raining.
It daylight. It stopped raining.
Birds are chirping, Flowers are blooming, Rabbits are scuttling.
I see my friends. I see my family. I can feel their love.
Again its raining. I still don't know my purpose. I still don't know which road to take.
But I know I will take chances. I have support from those I love. They'll take care of me.
I'm Dancing in the raining. I'm smiling.
I'm in my happy place.
The Only place where everything doesn't seem simply complicated.

A twist...

Hello Bloggers...

Here's a twist... Poetry girl has begun to blog properly... finally... To tell the truth, Poetry kinda helps me express myself.. But lately there has been so much going on that I can't think of riddles to express anything... I started this blog to put in all those things I learnt on the path to Discovering reality... I know I haven't blogged in a long time... Well I'm back...

Its exam time now.. So you all know that its a time of too much pressure.. Well I'm cool.. I'm Handling it... Or not!!!! Its like life is running on a fast forward n slow motion at the same time... And that's just creepy... Just when I think I have a lot of time, I have ten seconds left. Just when I think I have very less time, I seem to be left with ten hours... Its all so confusing...

To those people out there who are facing the same prob that I am, Don't worry... the feeling will pass... It is possible to relax and study even a minute before your exams.. The trick is to close your eyes.. clear your head.. take a few deep breaths... You'll be able to remember better... :)

SO.. that's it for now.. See you soon..

Be yourself

Haven't you ever wondered
How life would be?

If you could live it
Just the way you dreamed?

Haven't you ever questioned
Why you should follow
The same old path
Whether it brings joy or sorrow?

Haven't you ever realised,

That never once,
Have you strayed away,

From under the sun?

Don't you see in your mirror,
That you have become,
More or less,
Like everyone?

Get out of your shell,

And step onto the stage,

To be what to have to be,

Don't lock yourself up in a cage.

Don't lose yourself,
In the world of all war,
For you have all the time,

Just to be a shining star.

This may not be the best poem,
But what it says is true,

Be yourself,
Let that unique self be the real YOU.

Destiny - Dare to be different

Born with birth , Dies with death,
A page of life, lies hidden at birth,
Slowly it begins to show at times,
When it is seen by the powerful mind.

Some surrender their soul,
Which is what makes a being whole,
Bow their heads in acceptance,
Never think or see beyond the fence.

They walk where they see light,
Saying it comes from above,
Never try to ponder or fight,
Or even question Why? When? or How?

No urge to venture, slip astray,
From the plain, clear, bright pathway,
Never do they once stop to think,
That the decision to surrender was theirs to take.

A simple truth, a simple lie,
Which one? One can never decide,
Faith is all that makes a mark,
A difference between light and dark.

Life was blessed to try its own strength,
The soul can go to any length,
To conquer all that mind is set for,
Mind, has the power to wage any war.

The beginning, the end,
A decision, divine.
The life in-between,
To be written line by line.

With every step taken anew,
Is recorded a step before,
A new thought arises about the next step,
And that's how the story goes.

In the end...

It's a chapter we write,
After the introduction until the epilogue,
And that's what destiny is all about,
Begins with birth, Dies at death,
A chapter in-between,
Destiny.

Friends Forever

Hitting every mall in town,
Driving out, in the sun,
Sharing every smile, every frown,
Can't believe those days are gone.

No matter where we are,
No matter how we live,
No matter how far we go,
We'll surely meet again,
Till then our hearts will be connected.

I miss those really stupid fights,
Now that we've all taken our first flight(away from each other),
I miss those little birthday treats,
Memories bitter and sweet.

No matter where we are,

How we live, How far we go,
The memories remain,
And forever we will stay connected,
Don't you cry, Don't you worry,
Just believe, that we'll surely meet again,
Till then our hearts will be connected,
And we'll be friends forever.

Don't Let Go

Sometimes you hear this voice in your head,
You'll always do, until you're dead,
When you're to give up a fight with your foe,
You hear it say, 'Don't let go'.

Sometimes when you feel lonely, and you cry,
You weep all day, wishing you could fly away,
Just open your eyes, a ray of hope,
Will touch you and say, 'Don't let go'.

It Says,
'Don't let go, no matter what it takes,
Don't let go, no matter what it makes,
Don't let go, listen to me dear,
I will take you to heaven just don't fear,
Don't let go! '

Sometimes it doesn't feel right,

During the night,
Sometimes during the day,
Sometime after a fight,
The ocean will rise up into the air,
revealing an angel who truly cares.

She'll say,
'Don't let go, no matter what it takes,
Don't let go, no matter what it makes,
I'm here for you,
In your days of blue,
I'll reside in your heart and never let you break apart,
Just don't let go.'

Sometimes, just leave it to fate,
Don't let go, until you reach the right gate.

Baby

A note of sound,
When a baby is born,
The crying, Its like you've finally found,
A reason to live for, a reason to breathe,
A reason to smile, at those tiny little feet.

When the worlds are waging
A war everyday,
These tiny angels bring peace on their way,
To the angry winds and roaring lions,
They can work miracles with just little smiles.

Its the best thing that can happen to you,
To have a baby in the household, or vicinity too,
For their power is nothing compared to their size,
They are just as naughty as little mice.

Don't just take me for what I'm saying,
Try to challenge yourself,
You'll end up paying,
Try to stay with a straight face with a baby around,
You'll find a poet like me can never be wrong!

:) Just for all those babies out there. They are the
most beautiful things in the world, This statement
too you can't deny.
